Open Studios is an exciting time of year, when we open up our building for you to explore. With around 40 artists based in the building, there’s a dynamic range of artwork to see and people to meet.
If you’ve been before, you’ll know not to miss it.
If this is your first time, you are in for a treat.
Our studio building, a grade II listed former carriageworks, is a fantastic setting for this summer event. Whether you are here to see some art, network with other creatives or just enjoy the party, there are lots of things to discover at Jamaica Street Studios.
With internationally renowned painters, installation and sculpture artists, famous illustrators, photographers, printmakers and many more, this is no ordinary show. Couple that with the chance to make your way around our fabulous building and this is the best weekend of the year!
This year’s highlights:
- We will be showcasing art work by children from the refugee camp in Dunkirk, created with studio artists Elaine Jones, Emma Dibben and Liz Verde.
- Abigail McDougall will be holding a silent auction of her work over the weekend.
- New studio artists Charlie Brandon-King, Claire Shorrock and Sarah Dennis will be making their Open Studios debuts. Charlie is a printmaker and children’s book illustrator, Claire is an illustrator and Sarah is a paper-cut artist and illustrator.
The event begins with our opening party on Friday 10 June, 7-10pm. Bristol would not be the same without it! Enjoy the Studios in the company of friends, with music, art and a great big party.
We continue on Saturday and Sunday, at a more relaxed pace. Take your time to wander round the building, talk to artists about their work and take in the atmosphere. Teas, coffees and refreshments will be available.
